Question 981362: Which of the following lines is parallel to a line with the equation y=1/4x+6?
A) y=-1/4x-6
B)y=-4x+6
c)y=2x-3
d)x=4y-3
Answer is d. How did they calculate the answer? I need to see a breakdown on the calculation how they got x=4y-3. I know answer d has the same slope and therefore is parallel.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
Convert to slope-intercept form (y=mx+b):
a,b, and c are already in slope intercept form, and none has a slope of 1/4.
.
a.slope=m=-1/4
b.slope=m=-4
c.slope=m=2
d.
x=4y-3 Add 3 to each side.
x+3=4y Divide each side by 4
(x+3)/4=y
x/4+3/4=y
(1/4)x+3/4=y m=slope= 1/4. This is the parallel line.
