Please determine the equation of the circle. A) Center-radius form B) General form
Top of the circle (5,4)
Left side of the circle ()3,2)
Bottom of the circle (5,0)
Right of the circle (7,2)
-------
Let the coordinates of the center be (x,y)
-------
Based on left-side, right side, x = (13-7)/2 = 3
Based on top, bottom, y = (4-0)/2 = 2
----
Center:: (3,2)
Radius = (4-0)/2 = 2
------
Equation:
(x-3)^2 + (Y-2)^2 = 4

Since the -coordinate of the top and bottom is 5 and the -coordinate of the left and right is 2, the center has to be at .

Since the distance from the center to any one of the given points is 2 (I'll leave this as an exercise for you to verify), the radius of the circle must be 2.

You can expand the binomials and collect like terms to put this in General Form for yourself.
