6 units from (1,4)

(1,4)

(x,0)  6 = sqrt%28%281-x%29%5E2+%2B+16%29

         (1-x)^2 + 16 = 36

            (1-x)^2  = 20

             1 - x = ± √20

             1 ± 4√5 = x
