Question 774528: Equation of the line that goes through the point (0,-3) and is perpendicular through the point y=-2/5+6 Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Lines that are perpendicular to one
another have slopes(gradients) that
multiply together to give -1
m1 * m2 = -1
y = -2/5x + 6
has a slope(gradient) = -2/5
m1 * m2 = -1
-2/5 * m2 = -1
m2 = 5/2
Using equation y = mx + c
m = 5/2
c = -3
y = 5/2x - 3
Hope this helps.
