Hi,
Which of the following lines is equidistant fro the points
(3,8) and
(9,6) m = 2/-6 = -1/3 and y = (-1/3)x + 9
any line parallel to above line would be equidistant from these points.
D. y = (-1/3)x would be, same slopes m = (-1/3)

Which of the following lines is equidistant fro the points (3,8) and (9,6)?
A)x=1/3
B)y=3
C)y=x/3
D)y=-x/3
E)y=3x+8
-------------
The line equidistant is the perpendicular bisector.
The slope of the line thru the 2 points is -1/3, perpendicular lines have a slope of +3
----------
Only E has a slope of 3
========================
The point midway between the 2 points is (6,7)
The line has a slope of 3 and passes thru (6,7)
7 = 3*6 + b
b = -11
y = 3x - 11 is the equation of the line that is the locus of points equidistant from the 2 points.
--> None of the choices
