The equation for the perimeter of the sign would be:
P = 2L + 2W
since L = W + 15, you can substitute in that equation to get:
P = 2(W+15) + 2W to get:
P = 2W + 30 + 2W = 110
This becomes:
4W + 30 = 110
subtract 30 from both sides to get:
4W = 80
divide both sides by 4 to get:
W = 20
Your perimeter equation becomes:
2L + 40 = 110
subtract 40 from both sides to get:
2L = 70
divide both sides by 2 to get:
L = 35
you have:
L = 35
W = 20
L is 15 more than W
2L + 2W = 110
