Pick two points: (0,5) and (-2.5,0)
M = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = (5 - 0)/(0 - (-2.5)) = 5/2.5 = 2

Start with any point, but let me recommend the y-intercept. Notice that from the y intercept, you could go UP 2 units and OVER 1 unit to the right. This means that the slope = RISE over RUN = 2/1 or 2. The slope of this line is 2.
