You can put this solution on YOUR website! Two angles are complementary. One angle is four times as large as the other angle. What is the measure of both angles?
Sol'n:
when complementary angle, the sum is 90 degrees.
then, let x-the larger angle & y - the smaller angle.
x+y=90 ----(1)
x=4y ----(2)
substitute (2) into (1).
4y+y=90
5y=90
y=18
for x:
x=90-18
x=72
thus, 72 degrees and 18 degrees are the two angle.---answer
