Question 375717: nothing like the examples . . .y^2-12y+6x+30=0 . . find vertex, focus and directrix of the parabola . . y^2-12y+30=-6x . .now I can not figure out how to factor it and solve therest.

The focus: -4c = -6, or c = 3/2. Point-wise, the focus is (-1/2, 6).
The directrix is the the vertical line x = 1 + 3/2, or x = 5/2.
(The coordinates of the latus recta are (-1/2, 9) and (-1/2, 3).)
