Question 341100: so if angle T and angle U are complementary, find the measure of angle T and angle U if the measure of angle T is 16x-9 and the measure of angle U is 4x+3.
ok so i got a little confused on this because i set the problem to equal 90 since complementary angles have to be exactly 90 degrees, and i solved it. i got x=102/20 and i didn't simplify it because my teacher didn't want us to. then when i went back to try to plug the x value in to find the values of the angles, i got confused. please help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! so if angle T and angle U are complementary, find the measure of angle T and angle U if the measure of angle T is 16x-9 and the measure of angle U is 4x+3.
---------------------------------------------------
Equation:
T + U = 90 degrees
----
16x-9 + 4x+3 = 90
20x - 6 = 90
20x = 96
x = 96/20
x = 24/5
x = 4.8
----
T = 16x-9 = 16(4.8)-9 = 67.8 degrees
U = 4x+3 = 4(4.8)+3 = 22.2 degrees
