Question 340494: Hello,
Well I need help with solving systems of equations with circles. My teacher really did not explain how to solve the equation algebraically.
The problem is:
(x+2)^2 + (y-2)^2= 9
(x-1)^2 + (y-2)^2=16
I graphed the circles by plotting (-2,2) with a radius of 3 for the first circle, and (1,2) with a radius of 4 for the second circle. Please assist me in solving the equations algebraically.
Thank you so much!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x+2)^2 + (y-2)^2= 9
(x-1)^2 + (y-2)^2=16
----------------------
%28y-2%29%5E2+=+9+-+%28x%2B2%29%5E2+=+16+-+%28x-1%29%5E2
9+-+x%5E2+-+4x+-+4+=+16+-+x%5E2+%2B+2x+-+1
5 - 4x = 15 + 2x
-10 = 6x
x = -5/3
----------
Sub for x into either eqn and find 2 values for y.
