You can put this solution on YOUR website! Please help me solve this problem.
The perimeter of triangle PQR is at least 50. If y=7, what do we know about the values of x?
The given information is that side RQ=22, RP= 4x+2y, and PQ=18.
The perimeter is the sum of the lengths of the 3 sides. In this case then we have:
Perimeter = 22 + 18 + (4x + 2y)
Perimeter = 22 + 18 + 4x + 2*7
Perimeter = 40 + 4x + 14
Perimeter = 54 + 4x
Since the Perimeter is at least 50 we have:
54 + 4x >= 50
4x >= 50 - 54
4x >= -4
x >= -1
