One squeare has x for orginal and the other x+4 for the new square. Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let original square have side "x".
Its perimeter will be 4x.
New square has side x+4 and has perimeter 4(x+4)=4x+16
EQuATION:
New perimeter =2(old perimeter)-8
4x+16=2(4x)-8
4x+16=8x-8
4x=24
x=6 (length of sideof the original square)
