You can put this solution on YOUR website! Rather than solve the problem, I'll show the steps to solve it. Then you can solve it yourself.
1) First thing you need to do is find is the slope of the given line. So put the given line in slope/intercept form
2) Once you have the slope, use that slope to find the slope of the line perpendicular to that line. (negative reciprocal)
3) Now find the line that passes thru the point (0,0) and has the slope found in step 2.
4) You now have the equations of two lines.
5) Solve the system of equations of the given line and the line from step 3. That gives you the point where those two lines intersect
6) Using the point in step 5 and the origin, find the length of the segment that connects them.
