Question 125238: I am having a lot of problems with angles and lines. Please help.
Find the measure of the angles if a pair of interior angles on the same side of the transversal are represented by %285x-32%29 and %28x%2B8%29.
I set up my problem two different ways:
%285x-32%29%2Bx=180 and %285x-32%29%2B%28x%2B8%29%2Bx%2Bx=360 and got two different answers.
Please help!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Well, if you draw two parallel ines crossed by a transversal, then you can see that the interior angles on the same side of the transversal would add up to 180 degrees, so...
(5x-32)+(x+8) = 180 Simplify and solve for x.
6x-24 = 180 Add 24 to both sides.
6x = 204 Divide both sides by 6.
x = 34 degrees.
The two angles are:
5x-32 = 5(34)-32 = 170-32 = 138 degrees and...
x+8 = 34+8 = 42 degrees.
