Question 1067894: Two times the supplement of an angle exceed 5 times the complement of the same angle by 126°. What is the angle? Answer by ikleyn(53765) (Show Source):
Let x be the angle measure, in degrees.
Then the condition says
2(180-x) - 5(90-x) = 126.
Can you solve this equation on your own and find x ?
------------------ Comment from student:
2(180-x) - 5(90-x) = 126
360 - 2x - 450 + 5x = 126
3x - 90 = 126 3x = 216 (sent 90 over to the right side)
x = 72 (divided each side by 3)
Pretty sure that's the answer. Thank you for helping me set up the initial equation!

My response: Your solution is correct. I am glad to see it.
