A direct result of the famous Parallel Postulate is that corresponding angles are equal.
< 1 and < 38deg are supplementary angles - those add up to 180°
so, the measure of < 1 is < 1=180-38=142°

since, by Parallel Postulate, < 3=< 1 are corresponding angles, the measure of < 3 is 142°
