Question 738056: We have to graph the circle for this situation: It is tangent to the y-axis with a radius of 2 and the center is on line y=2x
I know the basic formula for graphing circles but I don't know how to find the equation with only this information. Please help :) Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The center of the circle is also on either of the lines, x=-2 or x=+2. You should find the intersections of the line y=2x with both of these other lines. Those points are the centers of the two possible circles which you want.
Do you find yourself now ready to continue and finish finding the equation of the desired circle or circles?
