I need to find the area of a figure shaped like an ice cream cone. The top (semicircle) is 6m. The figure shows an arc in the semicircle (I'm not real sure about the importance of that). And the bottom of the "cone" is 8m.
If you can make sense of this, I would greatly appreciate any help!!!!! Answer by drk(1908) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I will give it a shot.
There is an ice cream sphere in an ice cream cone. The semi-circumference of the sphere is 6m. That means that the circumference is 12m.
The circumference formula is
So, r = 6/pi.
I assume the height of the cone is 8m.
I guess you are to find the volume of the object.
There are 2 volumes we have to find . . .
(1) the cone and
(2) 1/2 sphere of ice cream.

The cone volume is
area of base, B, is
or =
--
Ice cream volume is 1/2 sphere so,
So the sum of volumes appears to be
