Question 1008794: Point c lies (5/6) of the way along segment AB, closer to B than to A. If the coordinates of point A are (12,5) and the coordinates of point C are (9.5,-2.5), what are the coordinates of point B?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In other words, the distance from A to C is 5z and the distance from C to B is z.
So look at the x distance from A to C.
AC=12-9.5=2.5
5z=2.5
z=0.5
So then to get from C to B in x, subtract 0.5 from C's x-coordinate.
B%5Bx%5D=9.5-0.5=9
Similarly for the y distance from A to C.
AC%5By%5D=5-%28-2.5%29=7.5
5z=7.5
z=1.5
So then to get from C to B in y, subtract 1.25 from C's y-coordinate.
B%5By%5D=-2.5-1.5=-4
