Question 314242: Will a 15" by 16" rectangle fit inside a 22.5" circle?
I want to order a rectangular pizza stone to fit on a 22.5"diameter grill and I'm afraid it won't fit. Found 2 solutions by nerdybill, Fombitz:Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You just have to worry about the diagonals of the rectangular pizza stone.
.
Apply Pythagorean theorem:
Let x = diameter
then
x^2 = 16^2 + 15^2
x^2 = 256 + 225
x^2 = 481
x = 21.93 inches
.
It will just barely fit. Now the question is, are there any obstructions in the way -- such as, the sides of your grill or the grill itself (is it flat?).
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Twice the diagonal of the rectangle is 21.93 inches.
Hopefully the diameter of the grill is on the inside and not outside.
It'll fit but it will be close.
