Site Mission: make homework less painful and more educational
Algebra.Com is not a one man website. It is a community website with hundreds of
free tutors -- real people who find pleasure in teaching math. They
solve students' problems (see 50 last solutions),
write lessons, etc.
Algebra.com is now listed in
Yahoo!'s Algebra category.
It is also listed in
Open Directory's High_School_Math
category. See how my site ranks in
Google or
Yahoo! or
Bing. Hint: As of February, 2011 it was #1 on all for a long time.
About one half of my new (non-repeat) visitors, though, visit my
site by simply typing "algebra.com" when they have something to do
with algebra, or by visiting it from their bookmarks. Check the stats section for more information.
Not For Sale
This domain is not for sale right now. There are three reasons for
it. First of all, I think that there is still a lot that I know I can
do to make it better. So many fun features and sections, so little time.
I think that I can make it worth more in the future than a typical website
buyer would. So the elementary considerations of economic efficiency suggest that
I should remain the owner.
Second, if I sold it now, I would be bored out
of my mind. Programming this site is so much fun: I design
my site on my own, my personal interest is fully aligned with my work
interest, and I can be fully rational about all decisions.
Third, I think
that people who focus on selling their site or a business, as opposed to
developing it as if they would own it forever, tend to not think like true
owners of the business. They just do whatever makes their business to conform to
the latest fads. This is often not in the long term interest of the business
itself. I am inspired by ideas of Warren Buffett, chairman of
Berkshire Hathaway, whose
stock I own personally.
I am not greedy for any money right now and am perfectly content
with the idea of owning algebra.com forever. Please do not send me offers
such as "I offer to buy algebra.com for $50,000 cash".
