Question 80807: hello can some one check this for me please?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
find the x intercepts
y=x^2+2x-3
Let y=0:
x^2+2x-3=0
(x+3)(x-1)=0
x=-3 or x=1
Cheers,
Stan H.
Hint: You did not factor correctly. You can check your factoring
by using FOIL to see if you get the original polynomial when you
do the multiplication.

Hmmm...I get something different:
Solve for x:
y+=+x%5E2%2B2x-3 Set y = 0 and solve for the x's.
x%5E2%2B2x-3+=+0 Factor the trinomial.
%28x%2B3%29%28x-1%29+=+0 Apply the zero products principle.
x%2B3+=+0 and/or x-1+=+0
So...
x+=+-3 and x+=+1
A good way to verify this is to look at the graph of the original equation:
graph%28300%2C200%2C-5%2C5%2C-5%2C5%2Cx%5E2%2B2x-3%29
As you can see from the graph, the x-intercepts are:
x = -3 and x = 1
