You can get the equation into the right order this way:
+6x%5E2=-11x%2B87+
Add +11x+ to both sides
+6x%5E2+%2B+11x+=+87+
Subtract 87 from both sides
+6x%5E2+%2B+11x+-+87+=+0+
Now apply quadratic formula
a+=+6
b+=+11
c+=+-87
