-x~2-4x-3=0 or x~2+4x+3=0 (multiply all terms by -1) now factor
(x+3)(x+1)=0 or x=-3 & x=-1
-x~2+14x-48=0 or x~2-14x+48=0 or (x-6)(x-8)=0 or x=6 & x=8
2x~2+7x+3=0 or (2x+1)(x+3)=0 or x=-1/2 & x=-3
3x~2+14x-5=0 or (3x-1)(x+5)=0 or x=1/3 & x=-5
