y=x%5E2%2B2x-8
First in order to slove for x we have to set y equal to zero.
0=x%5E2%2B2x-8
Now you have to factor.
0=x%5E2%2B2x-8
(x+4)(x-2)
Now set x eqaul to zero and solve for x
Answer :
x=-4
x=2
