You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If one root of a polynomial (quadratic, cubic or whatever) equation is 3,
the equation is %28x-3%29%2Asomething=0 or an equivalent equation.
For example, the equations
%28x-3%29%2A1=0 ,
%28x-3%29%2A%28x%2B2%29=0 ,
%28x-3%29%2A%28x%2B2%29%2A7=0 ,
%28x-3%29%2A%28x%2B2%29%2A%28x%2B1%29=0 , and
%28x-3%29%2A%28x%5E2%2Bx%2B1%29=0 all have an x=3 solution/root.

If one root of a quadratic equation is 5/3 then equation is
%28x-5%2F3%29%2A%28x-root%29=0 or equivalent.
What is the other root ?
If the other root is 3, the equation could be
%28x-5%2F3%29%2A%28x-3%29=0 , which can be written in a more familiar form by multiplying the indicated product:
%28x-5%2F3%29%2A%28x-3%29=0--->x%5E2-3x-%285%2F3%29x%2B%285%2F3%29%2A3=0--->x%5E2-%2814%2F3%29x%2B5=0 .
Multiplying both sides of the equal sign times 3, it looks even nicer:
x%5E2-%2814%2F3%29x%2B5=0--->3%2A%28x%5E2-%2814%2F3%29x%2B5%29=3%2A0--->3x%5E2-3%2A%2814%2F3%29x%2B3%2A5=0--->3x%5E2-14x%2B15=0 .
