There were four times as many boys in one school as in another.
A = 4B
Total # of students = A + 4B
------------------------
If there were another 17 boys between the two schools the total in the two schools would be 92 .how many boys are in the larger school
A + 4B + 17 = 92
-----
Substitute for A and solve for "B"::
4B + 4B + 17 = 92
8B = 75
----
B = 9 3/8
-----
Ans: A = 4(75/8) = 37.5 (# of boys in the larger school)
