You can put this solution on YOUR website! What method was used to solve this problem?
The quadratic formula was used to solve the problem.
4x^2-8x+3=5
First put the equation in this form:
4x^2-8x-2=0
Then,(and this is optional) they divided every thing by the greatest common factor, 2.
2x^2-4x-1=0
a=2 b=-4 and c=-1
The quadratic formula is:
x=4+-square root 16-4*2*-1/4
x=4+-square root 24/4
Here, I've corrected a slight error: or
