Add 10 to both sides of the equation....


+x%5E2+-+10x+-+1+%2B+10++=+-10+%2B+10+

You can split the middle term as follows...
Here remember that you have to find out two numbers whose sum is -10(that is coefficient of x and whose product is +9(that is the constant term....

+x%5E2+-+9x+-1x++%2B+9+=+0+


==> +%28x%5E2+-+9x%29+-+1%281x++-+9%29+=+0+


==> +x%28x+-+9%29+-+1%28x+-+9%29+=+0+



Here (x-9) is common to both the terms....so you can take it outside...


==> (x - 9 ) ( x- 1) = 0


==> either (x-9) =0 or (x-1) = 0
