Question 771912: Consider the quadratic equation: y=-2x^2-36x+1. Complete the square to express the quadratic in standard form y=a(x-h)^2+k.
When I try this problem, I get a=-2, h=-18 and k=323. I know that "a" is correct, but I'm not sure why "h" and "k" are incorrect.
Thanks for your help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=-2x^2-36x+1
y = -2(x^2+18x-1/2)
y = -2(x+9)^2 +163
Then a = -2, h = -9 and k = 163
