Question 749512: Could you help me solve this problem?
Does the graph of f(x)= -x squared -5x+6 have the point (2, -6) on it?
Thanks so much! Found 2 solutions by josgarithmetic, Alan3354:Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source):
Your function is extremely ambiguous. One could only guess what you mean:
f(x)=-x^2-5x+6
or
f(x)=(-x)^2-5x+6
or
f(x)=-(x^2-5x+6)
or
something else?
I would give one or two steps into the process if I knew exactly what is your given function. Anyway, substitute 2 for x and -6 for f(x) and find if the equation is true.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Does the graph of f(x)= -x squared -5x+6 have the point (2, -6) on it?
Does the graph of f(x)= -x^2 -5x+6 have the point (2,-6) on it?
----------
--> is f(2) = -6 ?
f(2) = -4 -10 + 6
f(2) = -8
--> not on the graph
