bx^2 + 2x + 1/b = 0 (b does not equal 0) solve for x.

bx%5E2+%2B+2x+%2B+1%2Fb+=+0

b%5E2x%5E2+%2B+2bx+%2B+1+=+0 ----- Multiplying by LCD, b

Looking for factors of + 1 (c * a) that sum to + 2 (b). These factors are 1 and 1. The replacement for "b" is therefore, 1bx and 1bx. We now have:

b%5E2x%5E2+%2B+bx+%2B+bx+%2B+1+=+0

%28b%5E2x%5E2+%2B+bx%29+%2B+%28bx+%2B+1%29+=+0

bx(bx + 1) + 1(bx + 1)

(bx + 1)(bx + 1) = 0, or %28bx+%2B+1%29%5E2+=+0

bx + 1 = 0

bx = - 1
