When you take the square root of both sides you must keep in mind that 7*7=49 and -7*-7=49
x=-7 and x=7

Another way to come up with both answers is:

x%5E2-49=0 Factor
%28x%2B7%29%28x-7%29=0
x+7=0 and x-7=0
x=-7 and x=7
