Next, look at the last term, which is a -3. The middle term is 4x.
What times what would be -3 that would add up to 4 for the middle term.
The reason you were having trouble factoring this is because it does NOT factor. What I did notice is that in the original problem, the is a perfect square trinomial, so let's do it this way:
