You can put this solution on YOUR website!
for what whole number values of b could you solve the equation 3x^2 + bx - 2=0 by factoring?
Looking at the ac method of factoring you need to find two numbers
whose product is ac=(3)(-2)=-6
and whose sum = b
Whole numbers whose product is -6 are:
1 and -6 whose sum is -5
-1 and 6 whose sum is +5
2 and -3 whose sum is -1
-2 and 3 whose sum is +1
So the whole number values b can take are -5,+5,-1,+1
