If the problem is exactly as you posted and if R stands for the set of real numbers (as it usually does), then this problem cannot be solved.

If R stands for the set of rational numbers or if the given root is complex (e.g. 1-sqrt%28-2%29 or 1+%2B+sqrt%28-2%29 then the problem can be solved.

Please re-post your problem. Either correct the root or state that a, b and c are rational numbers.
