first get rid of the fractions by multiplying every term by 6:

y%2F2+%2B+y%2F6+=+20+
6y%2F2+%2B+6y%2F6+=+120+. we can now simplify those 2 terms on the left:

3y+%2B+y+=+120+
4y = 120
so y=120/4

--> y=30
