Why would you want to use the quadratic formula?? This one factors:
x%5E2+-+x+-+12+=+0+
%28x-4%29%2A%28x%2B3%29=0
x=+4 or x=+-3

Graphing looks like this:

graph+%28300%2C+300%2C+-6%2C+6%2C+-15%2C5%2C+x%5E2+-x+-12%29

Your roots are at x = 4 and x = -3
