this is a difference of squares
1/25 (v-5) (v+5) = 11
v^2 = 300
v=10*sqrt(3)
v=-10*sqrt(3)
v=17.3205
v=-17.3205

I believe you mean:

v%5E2+-+25+=+275 --- Now, add 25 to both sides
---
v%5E2+=+250 --- now take the square root of each side
---
v+=+sqrt%28250%29 (plus and minus in front, of course), which should be simplfied
