Question 249926: How to solve a quadratic equation

Answer by rapaljer(4671) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First, set the equation equal to zero, and see if it factors. If it factors, then see my website (click on my tutor name "Rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com, and look for the link to my Homepage!).

IF THE EQUATION CAN BE FACTORED, then from my Homepage, look for "Basic, Intermediate and College Algebra: One Step at a Time." Select "Basic Algebra" and look in "Chapter 2" for "Section 2.10 Solving Quadratic Equations."

IF THE EQUATION CANNOT BE FACTORED, then you will need to use the "Completing the Square Method" or the "Quadratic Formula." For my explanation on this, from my Homepage, look for "MATH IN LIVING COLOR". Choose "Intermediate Algebra" and look for "Section4.03 Quadratic Formula."

I hope you like my website. It's all FREE! I also have a number of videos (from my own classroom before I retired!) that are also FREE. If you need help with a particular topic, send me an Email at rapaljer@seminolestate.edu, and I'll be glad to help you find the right page to help you.
