You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how do I find the hypotenuse of a right triangle that is 26 feet long, with one leg standing 14 feet longer than the other leg?
--------------
Use Pythagoras.
26%5E2+=+x%5E2+%2B+%28x%2B14%29%5E2
676+=+2x%5E2+%2B+28x+%2B+196
x%5E2+%2B+14x+-+240+=+0
(x-10)*(x+14) = 0 (ignore the -14)
x = 10 (1 side)
x = 24 (2nd side)
