Its probably the isolation of terms that is confusing
:
for you to solve for y in this you simply divide by b on both sides
:
highlight%28y=%28x%2Ba%29%2Fb%29now to isolate the terms you would distribute them
:
highlight%28y=x%2Fb%2Ba%2Fb%29 because the distributive property says
:
(1/b)(a+c)=a/b+c/b
