If you wish to solve a quadratic equation using Completing the Square then for x%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0, the term which does this is %28b%2F2%29%5E2=b%5E2%2F4.

x%5E2%2Bbx=-c
x%5E2%2Bbx%2B%28b%2F2%29%5E2=%28b%2F2%29%5E2-c
%28x%2Bb%2F2%29%5E2=b%5E2%2F4-c
etcetera, etcetera until you finish solve for x, and simplify.

term you need is 1.
