The red curve is the graph of y=x² and the green one is the graph of y=-x².

They differ because y=x² is a parabola opening upward, and y=-x² is a
parabola opening downward.  Each is the exact reflection of the other in the
x-axis.  They have the same shape.

They demonstrate the fact that when you multiply the right side of the
equation for a graph by -1, when it is solved for y, you get a curve that
is the exact reflection of the original in the x-axis.
