Term to complete the square is %282%2F2%29%5E2=1, which should be added and subtracted inside the parentheses.
2%28x%5E2%2B2x%2B1-1-1%29
2%28x%5E2%2B2x%2B1-2%29
2%28%28x%2B1%29%5E2-2%29

Remultiply to distribute the factor 2.
2%28x%2B1%29%5E2-4
