Question 1025971: Write a quadratic equation with no real solutions. Explain how you know there are no solutions. Thanks! Found 2 solutions by Fombitz, ankor@dixie-net.com:Answer by Fombitz(32388) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! No real solutions.
You can graph it to see that it doesn't cross the x-axis.
You can calculate the discriminant and see that it's less than zero.

:
When the discriminant is less than 0
b^2 - 4*AC < 0
Write an equation where 4*AC is greater than b^2 like
y = 3x^2 + 4x + 5
would be
4^2 - (4*3*5)
16 - 60 = -44, less than 0 so no real solutions
