In two or more sentences, explain how to solve the system of equations algebraically.
Solve the system of equations
x+y=2
y= -1/4 x^2 +3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
x + y = 2,             (1)
y = %28-1%2F4%29x%5E2+%2B3.      (2)
From (1), express x = 2-y and substitute it into (2). You will get a quadratic equation for single unknown y.
Solve it by applying the quadratic formula.
Then return back to (1) and find x.
