x^2-4x+9 = 0
Use the quadratic formula to get:
x = [4 +- sqrt(16-4*9)]/2
x = [4 +- sqrt(-20)]/2
x = [2 +- sqrt(5)]
x = 2+sqrt5 or x = 2-sqrt5
