Question 1010822: Hello, I need to answer
Write an equation in standard form for the quadratic function whois graph passes through (8,0),(0,8),(-2,0)
How can I do that? Step by step would be very helpful with explanation please!
Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two of the points are obvious zeros or roots.

You could quickly start with y=a%28x-8%29%28x%2B2%29. The point (0,8) can be used now to determine the value for a. Not yet then in standard form, but realize, you can find the vertex, knowing the symmetry axis is exactly in the middle of x at 8 and x at -2; or x=3; and you had found a; right?

a=y%2F%28%28x-8%29%28x%2B2%29%29
-
a=8%2F%28%28-8%29%282%29%29
highlight_green%28a=-1%2F2%29

Another way to finish, is do the multiplying in y=-%281%2F2%29%28x-8%29%28x%2B2%29 and then use Completing the Square to put into standard form, but if you can just use the middle value between the zeros,....,......!
